The Amateur Liaison Group has been set up under the UK’s National Action Plan for the sustainable use of pesticides (plant protection products). It is chaired by the Health and Safety Executive and consists of organisations representing amateur pesticide users/gardeners and manufacturers and retailers of amateur pesticides.
The group is running an online survey for amateur pesticide users to obtain information about purchasing, use, storage and disposal habits. This information will build on previous surveys run in 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016 and will help to develop future guidance on the safe use, storage and disposal of amateur products. For example, previous surveys have led to research which resulted in changes to labelling to allow recycling of plastic ready to use containers.
The survey will run for a month from 1 to 31 May 2019. On completion, there is an opportunity to enter a prize draw to win one of ten £50 National Garden Gift Vouchers.
A report of the results will be available later in the year on HSE’s website.
